Notes for Contributors

Submission. The official language of the journal is English. Authors are requested to submit the manuscripts to the Editor-in-Chief. Manuscripts should be submitted to the editor in one printed copy and by e-mail. Two referees will review them. Authors will usually be notified about the acceptance or rejection of the manuscripts within three months. After accepting a paper for publication the author should send the revised manuscript by e-mail. They should send also one printed copy together with a hard copy on CD. It is important that the files in the e-mail, CD, and the printout are identical. Papers should be written on Word for Windows, double line spacing, and the rows must be numbered with at least 2.5 cm page margins. Paper copies printed on a matrix printer should be LQ quality.

Manuscripts. Four categories of manuscripts are distinguished: (1) Original papers up to 24 pages (2) Reviews up to 30 pages (3) Short notes, protocols and technologies (4) Announcements of Conferences, Meetings and book reviews up to 3 pages.

Page charge. The price of each published page (approx. 3 manuscript pages, double line spacing) is 30 USD.

Title. The title should be brief, typed with bold capital letters with the author(s) name and address. Name, address, telephone, fax and e-mail must be given for each of the authors and co-authors on a separate sheet at the end of the manuscript.

Abstract. The abstract must be included after the title and author(s) name. It should not exceed 20 rows. It should be informative and not indicative (not of the conclusions alone).

Key words. Maximum 6 key words should be given at the bottom of the abstract. Latin names of the studied main species covered in the paper must be included here.

The introduction states the reasons for doing the work, the underlying hypotheses and the essential background.

Materials and Methods outline enough details to enable the work to be repeated by someone else.

Results and Discussion. Results draw attention to important features of tables and figures. The discussion points out the significance of the results and places the results in the context of other studies and concepts.

The Acknowledgements should be simply phrased. References to research projects and funds should be included here.

In the text, references should be cited using the following format:
For two authors, both names should be given throughout. Use the family name of the first author and et al. for three or more authors. In the list of the references use the following format:

For journals:
Scaltsoyiannes A., Tsoulpha P., Panetsos K., Moulalis D. (1997). Effect of genotype on micropropagation of walnut trees (Juglans regia). Silvae Genetica, 46: 326-332.

For chapters in a book:

A paper may be cited in press only if it has been accepted by a journal, and then the journal must be given in the references. Papers not yet accepted could not be cited in the text.

Nomenclature. Binomial Latin names should be used in accordance with International Rules of Nomenclature. In the title after the Latin name of the species the name of its author should be included. Latin names must be typed in italic in the manuscript.

Measurement units. SI-system should be used for indicating the measurement units. Use mg l-1 instead of mg/l.

Tables must be single line spacing and typed on separate sheet. Their numbers must be indicated in the text.

Black and white Photographs must be of good quality, printed on glossy paper. Their number must be indicated on opposite side. Type the number and text of the photographs on separate sheet, too. Photocopies are not acceptable, except to indicate positions of lettering. Printing of colour photographs will be charged additionally.

Scanned images will be accepted only as TIFF or JPEG formats and minimum 300 dpi.

Black and white graphs, diagrames, figures must be send in Excel (or other original format) and saved in separate files.
The scanned images must be saved in separate files (TIFF or JPEG formats).

Manuscripts, not accepted for publication will not be returned to the authors.
