Abstract
A successful procedure to regenerate Chirita medica D. Fang ex W.T. Wang from leaf explants was developed. Culturing leaf explants on MS medium with 0.1 mg l-1 NAA and 0.1 mg l-1 BA for 8 weeks produced the highest adventitious bud induction rate of 90.3%. Half-strength MS medium with 5 g l-1 activate charcoal and 30 g l-1 sucrose was optimal for root induction which caused 100% rooting, 6.11 roots averaging 18.8 mm in length. Rooted plants, transferred to field conditions, could reach 100% survival in two months.

Key words: adventitious bud, Chirita medica, in vitro plant regeneration, leaf explants
